Aftermarket: Tidebound Freight

Aftermarket is about making a network reliable when geography refuses to stay still.

Working title

Build an amphibious freight company across a flooded archipelago. Design transfer hubs, assemble modular vehicles, negotiate contracts, route physical cargo, and keep communities supplied as tides, storms, silt, shortages, and infrastructure failures reshape the network.

The core loop

1. Survey settlements, producers, needs, channels, roads, tides, hazards and existing infrastructure. 2. Accept or negotiate contracts with volume, schedule, quality, reliability and emergency terms. 3. Build docks, ramps, warehouses, cold storage, charging/fuel stations, cranes, cable lines and transfer yards. 4. Assemble or purchase vehicles and configure cargo modules. 5. Create routes, timetables, loading rules, priorities, reserves and maintenance windows. 6. Run the network and inspect bottlenecks, empty travel, missed transfers, spoilage and weather risk. 7.

Features

  • Changing water creates changing topology: tides, storms, silt, current and damage open and close routes
  • Cargo is physical: mass, volume, temperature class, fragility, spoilage/urgency, handling equipment
  • Vehicles are assembled for jobs: flat-bottom barge, hydrofoil, amphibious crawler, sail-electric coaster, cargo drone
  • Storm forecasts with uncertainty plus route policies defining cancellation thresholds, safe havens, priority cargo and automatic alternates
  • Contracts reward delivered volume, on-time windows, cold-chain quality, minimum service frequency, emergency reserve, low emissions/noise

Direction

‘A working maritime diorama assembled from the future’s leftovers.’ Stylized realism with bright readable vehicles, layered water, reclaimed architecture, solar fabrics, tide marks, cranes, floating gardens and busy docks. Water shifts from jade shallows to slate storm channels; infrastructure uses warm rust, safety orange, faded blue and solar black.
